Yale Chi Alpha Fellows Program

Have you ever thought of a career in campus ministry?

Do you want to be equipped to minister wherever God leads you after college?

Consider our Fellows program—a ten month training experience designed to equip you for the next steps into campus ministry, discern your calling into ministry, and provide you the opportunity to render service to the work of the Lord for a school year.

Yale University was founded in 1701 with the motto “Lux et Veritas” (light and truth). It consistently ranks among the top 3 universities in the nation and within the top 12 globally. Five former Presidents and 4 current Supreme Court Justices all graduated from Yale. Your leadership and ministry skills, theological understanding and character will flourish within this unique and challenging environment. The 6,000 undergraduate students live in 14 colleges in the heart of New Haven, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in New England.

Yale Chi Alpha offers the only Chi Alpha training program on an Ivy League campus. Fellows will experience their apologetic being sharpened and a broadening of their evangelistic potential within a post-Christian elite culture. Yale Chi Alpha is an ethnically rich community which provides cross-cultural ministry to future world changers.

Our dream is to develop the next generation of Christian missionaries, pastors, and marketplace leaders. We desire to see fellows graduate from our program and become Chi Alpha Directors and staff at one of the hundreds of unreached campuses in New England or become a foreign missionary who has been well-trained to enter a new cultural context. Missionaries moving to Europe without previous campus ministry experience would benefit from our program.

As a fellow, you will work alongside our staff team in campus outreach, small group discipleship, and sharing Christ’s love to our University. It is much like an apprenticeship in which ministry skills are learned under the supervision of an experienced campus ministry staff person. This program is specifically designed to develop your character, intellect, and ministry skills.

CHARACTER: The internship year is a great opportunity to grow and allow God to refine your character as you work and learn. Staff pastors will be with you every step of the way on your journey to whatever the Lord is calling you to do next.

INTELLECT: You will meet regularly as a Fellows class with our staff team for classes in Theology, Biblical Studies, and various topics relevant to the campus pastor including preaching, cultural relevance, missions, conflict management and others.

MINISTRY SKILLS: The majority of your training will involve the day to day “work of the ministry,” covering the full spectrum of responsibilities preparing you for a future in campus ministry, overseas missions, or church ministry. From event planning, administrative/logistics, set up/tear down, running weekly services to small group discipleship, relational evangelism, and pastoral care, you will have the opportunity to develop these skills hands on with the supervision of our leadership team.

The application for 2024-2025 is available here.
