We’re so glad you’re here.
First things first: our name.
It comes from the Greek in 2 Corinthians 5:20 in the New Testament which reads, "we are therefore Christ's (Chi) ambassadors (Alpha)." We're not a fraternity or sorority but if you're looking for brotherhood and sisterhood, you've come to the right place.
Whether you have a faith background or not, we want to be a community where you can ask honest questions and make meaningful friendships. In short, we’re here to be your home away from home.
What are we like?
In Chi Alpha, we believe that life is best lived grounded in the roots of real devotion, real community, and real responsibility:
Real Devotion: We believe having a vibrant, personal relationship with God is what we’re made for. Through spending time in Scripture, communicating with God, and living totally devoted to God, we can thrive during our time at Yale and beyond. Check out our devotional resources to get started!
Real Community: We are made for relationships! We believe the deepest transformation occurs when we are living in community with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We consider the most important part of Chi Alpha to be our Core Groups.
Real Responsibility: We believe that every Christian has an outward responsibility and should play a role in global missions, relational evangelism, and justice. In Chi Alpha, we provide students with opportunities to serve on all levels.
How do I join?
You’re welcome to join our community, at any time! Here are a few ways:
Chi Alpha Live, our weekly gathering. Filled with energy, fellowship, and a timely word from a campus pastor, Chi Alpha Live is a great place to end your week in community. We meet Fridays, 7-8:15pm.
Join a Core Group! A Core Group is a small group of guys or girls who meet weekly for fellowship and Bible study. They’re the best way to get plugged into Chi Alpha, and many people make lifelong friendships in their core group.
Check out one of our social events. We believe in having fun! Social events are a great place to hang out with your Core Group, as well as get to know others in Chi Alpha.
