Teachings
We recommend listening to each recording at the beginning of each week to help guide your journey.
Discussion Guide
We recommend meeting 3 times as a group, either during the middle or end of the week, for about an hour. These meetings are intended to be a time to reconnect over break, debrief the week’s practice, and encourage one another on the journey.
WEEK 1: HEARING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD
Connect with one another. What has been the most relaxing part of break so far? The most challenging part of break so far?
Discuss this week’s practice.
When you think of God speaking, what comes to mind? Have you ever experienced God speaking to you?
Was there anything from this week’s teaching that struck you?
How have you heard God through Scripture through scripture meditation this week? Share specifics, and celebrate together!
What challenges are you facing? Any lingering uncertainties?
End with prayer. Thank God for the things He spoke, and ask for strength in challenges and energy/perseverance for the next week.
WEEK 2: HEARING GOD THROUGH HIS SPIRIT
Connect with one another. What is one way you’ve experienced God’s goodness since we last met? What is one thing important for us to know about how you’re doing?
Discuss this week’s practice.
“God is always looking to speak to us, and we can incline our ear to hear him. But we can also do the opposite — we can decide we don’t ‘want to hear his voice.” How have you experienced this in your life?
Have you ever experienced God’s Spirit speak something to you that was surprising or challenging?
How have you heard or experienced God through listening prayer this week? Share specifics, and celebrate together!
What challenges are you facing? Any lingering uncertainties?
End with prayer. Thank God for the things He spoke, and ask for strength in challenges and energy/perseverance for the next week.
WEEK 3: HEARING GOD THROUGH HIS PEOPLE
Connect with one another. What is one thing important for us to know about how you’re doing?
What is one time when you felt most encouraged by a fellow believer?
“Sometimes the battle for your faith is won or lost not simply by how you deal with sin, but who you put around you.” Why do you think this is the case?
Do you find it easy or challenging to share encouraging words to someone else?
How was this week’s practice of Spirit-led encouragement? Did you sense God encourage someone else through you?
Think back on the last 3 weeks. What are your takeaways? How can you carry this into your semester?
End with prayer. Thank God for the things He spoke, and ask God to continue to speak into your lives.
